What is Scar Removal?

Keloids and hypertrophic scars both arise from overgrowth of tissue at the site of a healed skin injury. Hypertrophic scars appear raised over the skin, but do not grow beyond the boundaries of the original wound, and can improve with time. Keloids are worse because they can continue to grow past the boundaries of the original wound. Although harmless, they can be itchy or painful, and often unattractive. At our cosmetic center, we offer steroid injections that can help scars or keloids to flatten or soften. Typically a series of 3-4 injections are performed every 4 weeks.

Post-Treatment Guidelines

There is no special care needed after the procedure and most patients return to their regular activities immediately following treatment.
